Born of great provenance, this is the only English distillery that grows its own barley. The bottles hail from Leeds and the rest of the packaging from Scarborough. Sustainability is not the only feather in their cap. They also pour great care into what they release. Let’s face it, anyone can hide behind 10 years of barrel age. They, however “bare all” with young, finely crafted spirit. The Flagship here is a rather dynamic and full-bodied whisky. Nudging toward a classic Speyside style with emphasis on softer sweeter butterscotch notes, mixed with heather and cereals akin to Sugar Puffs. Nothing smoky or scary here! This is Yorkshire’s first whisky and well worth your attention.
