Amarone is always a treat, made from semi dried grapes you can expect a deep and luxurious black cherry and ripe plum with layer on layer of almost chocolate darkness. The best versions are expensive and made in very small quantities this strikes a happy balance of quality and affordability. Thanks to a slight residual sweetness this is a wine that can match up to dark chocolate almost as happily as it will to sticky burnt ends or duck in plum sauce.
