I love the Loire with its patchwork of different soils and microclimates producing characterful and distinct wines. Anjou where this wine hails from is probably not on too many wine lovers’ radar and especially not for red wine. Supple cherry and damson fruit notes combine to give a wine with a gentle but complete mid weight mouth filling juiciness. If you like a red wine with plenty of flavour but that doesn’t try to knock your head off this might be just the ticket.
